Step 1 — Get Your Learner's Licence (Class 7)

Before you can begin driving, you'll need to obtain your Learner's Licence.

  • Meet the minimum age requirement
  • Pass the Knowledge Test
  • Pass the Vision Test
  • Provide acceptable identification
  • Pay the applicable government fee

Step 2 — Study the Nova Scotia Driver's Handbook

The Driver's Handbook is the official study guide for new drivers in Nova Scotia. Topics include road signs, rules of the road, right of way, parking, speed limits, highway driving, winter driving, defensive driving, and safe driving practices.

Step 3 — Complete Driver Education

Completing a government-approved Driver Education Program helps you become a safer, more confident driver.

Step 4 — Book Your Road Test
